Art and Science are two exponents of the creativity of the human mind in contemporary societies. Paradoxically, over the last centuries the differentiation of methods and epistemological approaches between these areas has led to their gradual separation, which is currently reflected in their compartmentalization into their own institutions, from separate university schools, to specific museums and institutes. However, both scientists and artists are interested in describing reality and questioning its nature, and critical thinking combined with a motivation to explore the unknown are common to both creative processes. The major difference between art and science ends up residing in the source of inspiration for this search for the unknown, focused on understanding an objective external reality in science, or a subjective internal reality in the arts. In recent decades, there has been a growing interest in promoting a dialogue between these two fields, which has taken the form of artistic practices that focus on themes of a scientific nature, as well as the use of art in promotion, and even in the creative process in science. In this talk I aim to discuss how art and science can be reunited in a meaningful way in a post-modern society.

He is Key qualifications in the field of Animal Behaviour and Cognition, Neuroendocrinology and Genomics. During the last years he has been involved in research within the field of behavioural neuroendocrinology and behavioural genomics. His main fields of interest are the neuroendocrinology and genomics of social behaviour, the evolution and mechanisms underlying behavioural plasticity (including alternative mating tactics), and comparative social cognition. He is the Director of the Post-Graduate Program in Psychobiology at ISPA. He is also an artist, musician, and surfer.
