lab website

Sharaj (they/them) is a second-year student working with Prof. Samuel Scarpino and Prof. Brooke Foucault Welles. They are broadly interested in how power structures interact with communication in complex social networks. During their PhD, Sharaj intends to study how social identities shape user experience and public health narratives in media, with the aim to understand ways in which marginalized communities can leverage social capital and coordinate collective action. Prior to joining NetSI, they were a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behaviour, Konstanz, studying collective decision-making and movement across various sociobiological systems. They hold a B.S in Physics from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore
