The project "Genetic Architecture of the VA Million Veteran Program," developed by the Barabasi Lab in collaboration with the VA and CIPHER, has been long-listed in the Science, Technology & Health section of the 2024 Information is Beautiful Awards by the Data Visualization Society. The award has been celebrating excellence & beauty in data visualization, infographics, interactives & information art since 2012.

Prof. Albert-László Barabási and researchers Michael Sebek and Joey Ehlert contributed to this visualization that leverages genetic research conducted on a population from the Million Veteran Program to address the underrepresentation of participants from diverse backgrounds. The topology integrates network clustering with biological classification, where nodes represent diseases and edges signify shared SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms).
